The family will receive guests Sunday, from 5-7 PM at St. Rosemary will be deeply missed by her close knit family including her sister, Pat (Louis) Courtney, Ridgeway, IA sister-in-law, Sarajean Henry of Cedar Rapids, IA her children, John (Rhonda) Pleasant Hill, IA Lizanne (Mark) Meszaros, Hillsbourough, NC Laure (Jeff) Marino, Charleston, WV Lynne (Doug) Rittler, Adel, IA Lisa (Steve) Sanders, Des Moines, IA Jim (Jenny) Grayslake, IL Leslie (Jon) Schultz, Urbandale, IA Jay (Brenda), Urbandale, IA and LeEllyn (John) Nyberg of Phoenix, AZ 26 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and a whole host of devoted family and friends. Rosemary was predeceased by her parents her husband Jack her siblings, Charles Rooney and Fran Wilcox sisters-in-law, Marcie Rooney and Mary Leonard and brothers-in-law, Harry Wilcox, John Leonard and Dick Henry. She derived the greatest pleasure from her grandchildren, who brought her tremendous joy. She was the founder of Rosie’s RAGBRAI Riders and was the Marshall Family Campground CEO for over twenty rides. Add an ice-cold Stella Artois to the mix and all was right with Rosemary. Rosemary was an avid sports fan, who favored the Chicago Cubs, the Creighton University Blue Jays and the Dowling Catholic Maroons. ![]() She was a member of the Society of Pediatric Nurses. Rosemary enjoyed a 41-year nursing career, with many of those years spent in pediatrics at Mercy Hospital. They were married 65 years, during which time they raised nine children. While a nursing student, she met the very handsome Jack Marshall. ![]() She earned her nursing diploma at Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, IA in 1955. She grew up in a loving home with her brother Charles and sisters, Frannie and Pat. Rosemary was born in Decorah, Iowa in 1934 to Walter and Rose Rooney. Her care team affectionately referred to Rosemary as “a national treasure”, which she absolutely loved! She had been receiving the most tender and compassionate care by the wonderful team at Mill Pond Senior Living and Unity Point Hospital and Hospice at the time of her death. Rosemary had recently suffered from complications of cancer. Marshall received her long-awaited gift of eternal life on Wednesday April 26, 2023.
